AutoFarm® Introduces OnTrac2 GPS Assisted Steering System

“Lock 'n Roll” Design Gives Easy, Affordable Hands-Free Steering

FREMONT, CA - January 12, 2009 - AutoFarm announces a new GPS steering solution for growers who want affordable, easy-to-install, hands-free steering on their agricultural operation: the OnTrac2™ GPS Assisted Steering System.

OnTrac2 is the cost-effective solution to hands-free GPS assisted steering that eliminates skips and overlaps, lowers fuel consumption, expands the seasonal operating window, and dramatically reduces operator stress and fatigue.

Unique split-gear design does not require removal of the steering wheel for installation; OnTrac2 simply latches on and off for fast, easy transfer across multiple brands and types of vehicles - tractors, sprayers, spreaders, or combines. Its high-torque, positive gear drive delivers the turning power needed to control the most demanding agricultural vehicles while eliminating the wheel slip typical of friction motor steering systems. The precision electro-mechanical drive unit runs “whisper quiet” when in operation.

“With the introduction of OnTrac2, AutoFarm sets a new standard in affordable, easy install GPS steering solutions,” says Deane Malott, AutoFarm product marketing manager. “The OnTrac2 system is designed to be installed without removing the steering wheel and with a minimum of tools. In fact, with optional switch kits, transferring the unit from one vehicle to another requires no tools and takes just minutes. Plus, it's designed to give customers true hands-free GPS assisted steering at a visual guidance price point.”

With OnTrac2 in operation, vehicle operators focus on the task at hand while performing tillage, spraying, spreading, or harvesting operations with greater accuracy, covering more ground faster and more efficiently. Coupled with the power of the AutoFarm ATC display, OnTrac2 works straight A-B lines, contours, headlands or pivot circles reducing overlap to save fuel, fertilizer, chemicals, and time.

The OnTrac2 GPS Assisted Steering System offers WAAS or EGNOS level pass-to-pass accuracy for operations in the Northern Hemisphere. It is also available with eDif corrections (optional) for operations in the Southern Hemisphere. It is easily installed on or transferred across a complete range of agricultural vehicles: 2WD and MFWD tractors, 4WD articulated tractors, combines, sprayers, spreaders, and swathers.

The OnTrac2 system will be shown or demonstrated at these upcoming shows:

  • National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, KY, February 11 to 14, 2009
  • World Ag Expo, Tulare, CA, February 10 to 12, 2009 - Ride & Drive Lot 5
  • Canadian International Farm Show, Toronto, Canada, February 3 to 5, 2009
